Episode Notes

Episode Highlights, Links and Resources:

In the introduction, Steve and Jeremie discuss the Russian Invasion in Ukraine and what kind of leaders Putin and Zelensky are showing themselves to be. Jeremie says the leadership lesson from Putin is the impact of paranoia. Jeremie, "When you use domination and fear and manipulation it only produces 'yes men' around you."

Steve's take on Putin, "You have to, as a leader, create a culture where you hear all the voices and you don't 'shoot' them when you don't like what they say." Steve adds that we may not be like Putin, but we have to ask ourselves, "Do I really hear the wisdom of all the people around me before I make decisions?"

During the Q&A with Tracy, Jeremie mentions "knowing yourself in order to lead yourself". Learn more about this tool here. In response to the listeners question about getting buy-in from their team, Jeremie's response is to:
1. Understand your Voice
2. Find an ally that can collaborate with you. Steve's response is, "Take a step back and go back to collaboration. Share what you're thinking but invite other Voices to help shape the outcome."

Episode Takeaway from Steve:  As a leader, choose the vocabulary and language you are going to use, and make it so embedded in the culture and consistent that it delivers a change.
Episode Takeaway from Jeremie: As your team leaders go, so goes your organization. You have to have healthy "Sherpa" (leaders). The leader defines the culture first.
